Prof. Dr. Joachim Hertzberg

Prof. Dr. Joachim Hertzberg is Professor of Computer Science (Knowledge-Based Systems) at the University of Osnabrück and, since 2011, also Head of the Osnabrück branch office of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), Robotics Innovation Center. He studied computer science, received his doctorate (Bonn, 1986) and habilitation (Hamburg, 1995). His research and teaching topics are Artificial Intelligence and Mobile Robotics with a focus on plan-based control of robots, sensor data interpretation, semantic mapping and applications of these technologies, especially in the fields of agriculture, logistics, production and currently especially digitization of agriculture. He has published numerous scientific papers and books on these topics and has been granted two patents. Among the awards for his work is the Fellowship of the European Association for Artificial Intelligence (EurAi), awarded in 2014.
