Brian Spears

Brian Spears graduated from Brigham Young University (Provo, Utah) in 2003 as a chemical engineer. He worked for several years as managing director of a consulting firm he founded in Austin, Texas, specializing in process optimization. After a total of 12 years with the company, he left and went to London to join a start-up accelerator. But after only a few months he returned to the USA and went to California. There, together with Andra Necula, he developed the concept of using cell cultures to produce pork. The start-up accelerator IndieBio included the project in its funding list in 2018. With funding, he is currently working with a team of 5 people on the further development of the technology and hopes to be able to produce a marketable product in sufficient quantities within 2 - 3 years.
