Claudia Vallentin is working on her doctoral thesis and two knowledge transfer projects in the field of Smart Farming with satellite data at the Helmoltz-Zentrum Potsdam, Deutsches GeoForschungsZentrum (GFZ). Their scientific work is very application-oriented and uses remote sensing data to understand the field, the crop and the yields. Resulting applications can be another component of Smart Farming for the farmer. The expertise of remote sensing will also be passed on to farmers and foresters as well as decision makers in administration and industry. The projects KONSAB and SAPIENS, which she coordinates, conceive training measures in the form of webinars, which should bring the knowledge from research directly and practically to the user.
