Dr Simon Walther is an agricultural economist at Thünen Institute in Braunschweig (Germany). His work focuses on the opportunities and limitations of digital technologies in agriculture and their implications for farms and society. Besides that, he runs a cash crop farm in southern Germany. After his dissertation Simon worked for five years in Strategic Marketing at John Deere and in Product Management at 365FarmNet. The focus of his work these companies was the systematic identification of customer needs, derivation of market opportunities, as well as business development.
