Dr. Lisa-Marie Braune is a plant breeder and currently works as a corn breeder for KWS SAAT SE. Since 2013, she has been responsible for a corn breeding program in China and the development of new varieties for the early Chinese market. She works from Germany, but travels to China several weeks per year. Previously, she studied agricultural sciences at the University of Hohenheim and received her Ph.D. in Quantitative Genetics/Plant Breeding from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis/St.Paul in the USA. During her work, she worked on practice-oriented breeding topics and worked closely with AgReliant Genetics, a breeding company in the USA. Her research stay was funded by a scholarship from KWS SAAT SE. The German Maize Committee (DMK) awarded her the Young Scientist Award in 2015 for her dissertation.
