The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) is Germany's national centre for solid earth research. Its mission is to deepen knowledge about the dynamics of the solid Earth and to develop solutions for the major challenges facing society. One area of scientific research is remote sensing. The Remote Sensing and Geoinformatics Section researches and develops applications based on earth observation for a wide range of relevant areas, from natural hazards to precision farming. The GFZ is also the scientific lead of the EnMap Mission - the German hyperspectral satellite.
